Instructions for SHYBA League Commissioners
The SHYBA League Commissioners are responsible for the SHYBA web site information for their league. There is a username and password assigned to each league’s commissioner, that allows updating of the web site information.
If you do not know your username/password combo, contact Andy Kalish (see SHYBA Contacts on web site for current phone and email address).
Setting up the Team List.
1st thing the commissioner must do is set up the team list for that league. To do this:
1) Click the 4 Select League section (from left hand navigator on SHYBA web site)
2) Select your league in the right hand frame
3) Click on thebutton at right side (next to Last Updated date) to edit the League.
4) You will be challenged for your username/password:
If you do not know the username/password for your league, contact Andy Kalish.
NOTE: DO NOT share your username password with anyone else… this is strictly for the commissioners.. This username/password is different than the username/password you will set up for the coaches to allow them to update team hi-lites.
5) Select the "Team List" tab.
6) To add a team, click on the “Add New Team” button, for each team, and fill out the Team number and any other of the fields you’d like to provide. You can come back any time later and edit this to fill in any additional information on the Team List tab, and any of the other tabs (League Info, Sponsors, and Other Settings).
7) Click “Submit” button (top right) once you’ve added all the teams, and filled in the info.
Schedule
After your teams have been entered, you can put the schedule for your League up on the web site. There are 2 ways to create schedule entries: 1) create them game-by-game on the web site OR 2) Import an existing schedule. The 1st option is best for adding games on an exception basis, after the schedule is already on the web site. The 2nd option, Import, is the best approach for pushing an existing schedule (ie: a MS Excel spreadsheet)
Instructions:
1) Click the 4 Schedule&Key Dates section (from left hand navigator on SHYBA web site)
2) Select your league, and “All Teams” on the right and click “Show Schedule” button
3) Click onbutton at right (next to Print button) to edit schedule
4) Enter your username/password (same as Updating League Info described above)
5) To create game-by-game schedule entries click the “Add New Row” button at bottom
OR To Import an existing schedule, change the Schedule Update Method to “Import” (radio buttons at the bottom of page), and follow the instruction on the screen
6) Hit “Submit” button when ready to save data.
Note: You can subsequently manage/maintain the schedule through this same interface.
Team Hi-Lites
There is a team hi-lites section for each team in each league. This is a place for the team’s coach (or a designee) to post information regarding their team, record game results, and optionally, track player statistics. A good use of the Team Hi-Lites section could be a write-up of each game… This is a nice medium for kids to see their names in lights, and have grandma in Florida watch their progress. Commissioners should encourage the coaches to update their team’s hi-lites page on the web regularly, or to delegate this task to one of the kid’s parents.
Each commissioner should
provide the user name & password to update the team hi-lites, to all of the
coaches in their league. As the League Commissioner, you set this up when you create/edit the Team Lists, and set the “Web Site Update Username” and “Web Site Update Password” for each team, in the Team Lists section of the League Update (as described above in the Setting Up the Team List section). I personally recommend that you establish a single Username/Password for all the teams in your league.. easier for you to remember, when coaches forget their passwords.. NOTE: this username/password for the coaches to update Team Hi-Lites, is NOT the same as the username/password assigned to you, the commissioner,
